Turkish Packaging Exports Increased in June 2018

Turkish packaging industry continues its growth at full speed. The industry had 539 million dollars foreign trade surplus in the first half of the year.
Turkish packaging industry's export for 6 months in 2018 increased by 8 percent in volume and 17 percent in value compared to the same period of last year. In the first 6 months, import increased by 7 percent in volume and 13 percent in value compared to the same period of last year. The industry had 539 million dollars foreign trade surplus in the first 6 months of 2018, continuing to make positive contribution to current deficit. In total packaging export, the top 5 countries have been Germany, UK, Iraq, Italy and Israel in terms of value. In terms of total export figures according to packaging types, plastic packaging ranked the first with 65 percent share and paper/cardboard/ corrugated packaging ranked the second with 24 percent share.
Evaluating the success of the industry in the first 6 months, Mr. Zeki Sarıbekir, the President Turkish Packaging Manufacturers Association (ASD) said: "Our country's export had 12 percent monthly average growth in 2018. Considering the current economic conditions in Turkey, we observe that we need to make more export with each passing day. We need to act with the goal of managing to export at least half the packaging we produce in Turkey".
