The winners of the National Packaging Design Student Competition Announced

At the Eurasia Packaging Istanbul Fair, which was held for the 29th time this year and hosted more than 80 thousand people from all over the world, the winners of the 20th National Packaging Design Student Competition 2024 were also announced. While 14 out of 105 applicants from the design departments of universities made it to the finals, the first prize of the competition was 30,000 TL, the second prize was 20,000 TL and the third prize was 15,000 TL. The contestants who took the first three spots also won 12-month scholarships under RX TÜYAP and ASD educational scholarship. Those who shared the first three spots in the competition and those who were awarded with honourable mentions and certificates also won the right to participate in the WorldStar Student Competition organised by WPO - World Packaging Organisation and AsiaStar Competition organised by APF - Asia Packaging Federation.

Stating that they have been organising the National Packaging Design Student Competition continuously every year for 20 years and that they have both supported young people who are devoted to design and that very important designers have been brought to the sector, Mr. Zeki Sarıbekir, President of ASD said, 'We believe that all 14 designs that made it to the final won. Of course, there will be one winner among equals in each competition, but for us, all finalist designs are extremely important. I congratulate these young designers who made it to the finals and our distinguished teachers who trained them. All finalists also won the right to represent us abroad. Hereby, I call on all of them to participate in WorldStar Student and AsiaStar Competitions, the most important competitions of the packaging industry. Go and show the power of Turkish design there as well.'

WE NEED YOUNG PEOPLE AND NEW IDEAS

Stating that the competition was organised with the contributions and support of Turkish Label Manufacturers Association, Turkish Carton Board Packaging Manufacturers Association, Corrugated Board Manufacturers Association, Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association and Rigid Plastic Packaging Manufacturers Association together with ASD, Mr. Sarıbekir said:

'The packaging industry has been undergoing a rapid transformation in recent years with technological developments. However, besides these technological developments, the power of design is indisputable. We believe that the packaging industry will develop with design and innovation. The finalist designs also reveal how talented and creative our young people are. We need these young people and new ideas for the progress of our sector. I congratulate our designers who have done great work by thinking about how packaging should evolve not only in terms of aesthetics but also in terms of environmental and social responsibility.'
