Turkish Students are Champions of Design

International Award for Packaging Design Projects of Turkish Students

15 student projects that were ranked in the 18th National Packaging Design Student Competition organized annually by the ASD Turkish Packaging Manufacturers Association in 2022 competed in the WorldStar Student, organized annually by the World Packaging Organization (WPO). In the international competition which received 272 project applications from 30 countries, Zeynep Özel from Türkiye, studying at Istanbul Medipol University Industrial Product Design, ranked first with her design and awarded the Gold Prize. Türkiye was followed by the USA with the second prize and China with the third prize. Along with Category and Certificate awards, the number of projects from Türkiye that received awards became 16 in total.

In the international competition where 272 projects from 30 countries compete, 16 designs from Türkiye were awarded. Zeynep Özel from Türkiye, studying at Istanbul Medipol University, Industrial Design Department, ranked first in the 'WorldStar Student' competition with her project and was awarded the Gold Prize. Zeynep Özel also awarded the Silver Prize in the Marketing category of the same competition with her project. Türkiye was followed by the USA with the second prize and China with the third prize. Along with Category and Certificate awards, the number of projects from Türkiye that received awards became 16 in total.

WorldStar Student has been organized by the World Packaging Organization (WPO) since 2006 open only to  the participation of students. The only competition that enables students from our country to compete in WorldStar Student, the National Packaging Design Student Competition is organized annually by the ASD Turkish Packaging Manufacturers Association with the contribution of Eurasia Packaging Istanbul Fair, in cooperation with Reed TÜYAP.

WE BELIEVE IN AND SUPPORT OUR YOUNG DESIGNERS

Commenting on the contest result, Mr. Zeki Sarıbekir, President of ASD said: “Design is as important as the packaging itself. We believe in the vision of our young designers and support them all the way. We received the returns of this support in the international arena. We are very pleased that 15 students from Türkiye ranked at the WorldStar Student Competition organized by the World Packaging Organization (WPO). We are very proud that a Turkish student ranked the top at this competition. The countries that we shared the top three ranks are the USA and China in turns. Our students have been at the top three ranks in recent years. While we are taking firm steps toward the future, we are even more hopeful with such successful performances of our students. In this time when value added exports are highly important, I would like to singularly congratulate our students that we accept as the future of our sector. As ASD, we will continue to contribute to our youth and sector with our competitions.”

Winners of the WorldStar Student 2022 competition will be presented their awards at WorldStar Award Ceremony that will be held during the Interpack Packaging Trade Fair organized in Düsseldorf on May 4th, 2023.
