APF's First Meeting in 2020 Performed Online

The 5th APF Asian Packaging Federation's Strategic Planning Meeting was performed via Zoom Application on 4th June, 2020 at 13.00 – 16:00 (local time in Bangkok). There were 18 attendees in total from 11 countries in Asia continent, namely: Turkey, China, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Korea and Japan.

During the meeting, the status of Covid-19 pandemic was reported by each representative from each country. Infection of the novel coronavirus has been detected and has some effects in all member countries. A lot of measures and precautionary practices were taken to respond the spread of the disease.

The Covid-19 pandemic would definitely affect this year APF activities e.g. AsiaStar Award competition, particularly in AsiaStar Judging and AsiaStar Award Night, as well as the APF Board of Administration (BOA) and General Assembly (GA) meeting in the Philippines.

ASD Secretary General Ms. Aslihan Arikan was elected and appointed as the President of APF for 2020 – 2022 in the general assembly of federation last year. The president had expressed her concerns on members' health, business and their association so the call for entry for 2020 AsiaStar would be postponed.

The online meeting via Zoom application will be arranged in August/September 2020 in order to update the Covid-19 situation and make the decision on this year's physical activities.

1st Study Visit of DEEP Project held in Belgium and the Netherlands!

The scope of the “Technical Assistance for Assessment of Türkiye's Potential on Transition to Circular Economy” (DEEP) Project that prepares the roadmap for Türkiye's transition to a circular economy; the first study visit was held in the Netherlands and Belgium between 28 November and 2 December 2022 to exchange information on ongoing activities and practices related to the circular economy in the context of resource and waste management in EU countries.

18 Awards to Turkey in AsiaStar

Winners of the AsiaStar 2021 Competition where the best packaging in Asia compete are announced. In AsiaStar 2021 where 132 packaging from 14 countries compete, Turkey won a total of 18 awards.

ASD Packaging Academy Continues Training Online

The 2020 training program organized by the ASD Turkish Packaging Manufacturers Association under the brand of ASD Packaging Academy was completed with six trainings. ASD Packaging Academy continues its 2021 training online. ASD Packaging Academy continues its 2021 training program on online platforms. “Covid-19 Precautions Training for the Packaging Industry”, was given by Occupational Physician and Pandemic Consultant Dr. İsmail Hakkı Serin on January 27th, 2021, in cooperation with Özden OSGB (Joint Health and Safety Unit).

ProPak Connect hosted a number of live free-to-attend sessions featuring international speakers in collaboration with the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP), Department of Science Service (Thailand), Kasetsart University, and Thailand Institute of Science and Technology Research, along leading packaging industry experts.

World Design Challenge on Sustainable Packaging Attracts

The Sustainable Packaging Design Challenge, a collaboration between WPO and WDO launched in April of this year, culminated in a series of final presentations from 7 teams on Friday, 4 June.
