APF General Assembly 2020 and AsiaStar Judging Meetings Performed Online

Asian Packaging Federation (APF) 2020 General Assembly and AsiaStar 2020 Packaging Competition Judging Meetings took place online on December 16 - 17. Delegates from 13 countries attended the meetings.

Asian Packaging Federation (APF) 45th General Assembly, 70th Board of Directors and AsiaStar 2020 Packaging Competition Jury Meeting were held online on December 16-17.

Delegates from 13 countries, Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Turkey, attending the APF General Assembly. They exchanged ideas after covid-19 pandemic about the works of APF and made decisions about business collaboration for developing the packaging industry in the continent.

The chair of the meetings was Ms. Aslihan Arikan, president of APF for the 2020-2021 term and Secretary General of Turkish Packaging Manufacturers Association (ASD). She stated that although there has been a pandemic, APF representatives met seventh times in 2020 and thanked to members for spending time for the federation's works. Arikan spoke about how packaging industry is more dynamic than before because of pandemic regarding food, beverage, health and cleaning products. She said “packaging has negative publicity due to the environmental issues so APF members should focus on increasing recycling and importance of packaging for saving food. In the new term, APF must also emphasize on industry 4.0, automation, e-commerce and online shopping. The industry should take all necessary hygiene and safety precautions during manufacturing”.

Attended by Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Turkey in 2020, AsiaStar 2020 packaging competition received a total of 173 applications. The results will be announced in the second half of January.

1st Study Visit of DEEP Project held in Belgium and the Netherlands!

The scope of the “Technical Assistance for Assessment of Türkiye's Potential on Transition to Circular Economy” (DEEP) Project that prepares the roadmap for Türkiye's transition to a circular economy; the first study visit was held in the Netherlands and Belgium between 28 November and 2 December 2022 to exchange information on ongoing activities and practices related to the circular economy in the context of resource and waste management in EU countries.

WPO Announces the Winners of WorldStar 2022 in Milan

APF's 2022 Strategic Planning Meeting Performed Online

The 7th APF Asian Packaging Federation's Strategic Planning Meeting was performed via Zoom Application on 18th April 2022. There were attendees in total from 11 countries in Asia continent, namely: Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Turkey.

18 Awards to Turkey in AsiaStar

Winners of the AsiaStar 2021 Competition where the best packaging in Asia compete are announced. In AsiaStar 2021 where 132 packaging from 14 countries compete, Turkey won a total of 18 awards.

ASD Packaging Academy Continues Training Online

The 2020 training program organized by the ASD Turkish Packaging Manufacturers Association under the brand of ASD Packaging Academy was completed with six trainings. ASD Packaging Academy continues its 2021 training online. ASD Packaging Academy continues its 2021 training program on online platforms. “Covid-19 Precautions Training for the Packaging Industry”, was given by Occupational Physician and Pandemic Consultant Dr. İsmail Hakkı Serin on January 27th, 2021, in cooperation with Özden OSGB (Joint Health and Safety Unit).

ProPak Connect hosted a number of live free-to-attend sessions featuring international speakers in collaboration with the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP), Department of Science Service (Thailand), Kasetsart University, and Thailand Institute of Science and Technology Research, along leading packaging industry experts.
