APF General Assembly 2020 and AsiaStar Judging Meetings Performed Online

Asian Packaging Federation (APF) 2020 General Assembly and AsiaStar 2020 Packaging Competition Judging Meetings took place online on December 16 - 17. Delegates from 13 countries attended the meetings.

Asian Packaging Federation (APF) 45th General Assembly, 70th Board of Directors and AsiaStar 2020 Packaging Competition Jury Meeting were held online on December 16-17.

Delegates from 13 countries, Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Turkey, attending the APF General Assembly. They exchanged ideas after covid-19 pandemic about the works of APF and made decisions about business collaboration for developing the packaging industry in the continent.

The chair of the meetings was Ms. Aslihan Arikan, president of APF for the 2020-2021 term and Secretary General of Turkish Packaging Manufacturers Association (ASD). She stated that although there has been a pandemic, APF representatives met seventh times in 2020 and thanked to members for spending time for the federation's works. Arikan spoke about how packaging industry is more dynamic than before because of pandemic regarding food, beverage, health and cleaning products. She said “packaging has negative publicity due to the environmental issues so APF members should focus on increasing recycling and importance of packaging for saving food. In the new term, APF must also emphasize on industry 4.0, automation, e-commerce and online shopping. The industry should take all necessary hygiene and safety precautions during manufacturing”.

Attended by Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Turkey in 2020, AsiaStar 2020 packaging competition received a total of 173 applications. The results will be announced in the second half of January.
